INTRODUCTION
Biodun Okeowo, also known as Omo Butty is a popular Nollywood actress and producer in the Yoruba sector. She has made a quite the name since she debuted in 2006.
EARLY LIFE AND BACKGROUND
She hails from Remo, Ogun State, but she grew up in Fadeyi, Lagos. She is from a polygamous home, and she is the last of her mother’s five children. According to her their mother raised us single-handedly because she lived apart from their dad.
She studied Communication Arts at the Lagos State University, Ojo. She interned at LTV8 and learnt a lot about journalism there. According to her she would have become a newscaster, but the love and passion she developed for acting made her pursue a career in acting. Incidentally, her father used to be an actor with the Awarawa Theatre Group. Her father performed alongside people like Jide Kosoko.
SHE SPEAKS MORE ABOUT HER EARLY LIFE IN AN INTERVIEW SEE BELOW;
Did your parents especially, your father being a pastor, object to your chosen career?
Not really, my dad was an actor before he became a Prophet. So, he did not object to it but my mother was afraid because many people told her that I would have to go diabolical to make it in the industry. Also, the fear of losing me, her simple and God-fearing daughter to some worldly things made her object. But later I was able to convince her that all I needed was her prayers. And being a prayer warrior, God answered her prayers and the rest is history.
The actress had talked about virginity and the need for ladies to protect themselves till they get married while using her mistake I the past as case study.
Since her interview was taken out of context, the actress has come out to set the records straight that she got deflowered at age 21, became pregnant in the process unprepared and not 16 as widely claimed by some medium.
Clearing the air on the issue, she wrote, “To set the records straight I was 21 when I disvirgined, got preggy unprepared, so do I advise girls to make same mistake? I granted the interview years ago, why is it trending now? All I said was “My kids father was my first” for the jobless ones, you can go find him & confirm from him he’s very much alive. Where did I say I was disvirgined at 16 as stated above?”
Would you say your chosen career was the reason for your failed marriage?
We are pencils in the hand of the creator, he knows and directs our lives. My career has got nothing to do with that.
What lessons did you learn from your previous marriage?
My broken marriage was a place of learning to me. It taught me to be a better person and has opened a hidden part of me. Then I was younger but I have learnt that what will be will be, no matter what.
CAREER AND LIFE
She began her acting career in 2006 under the tutelage of Ray Eyiwunmi Organisation. Even though her mother never wanted her to become an actress, her father supported her when she made my intention to become an actress known. With time, she was able to convince her that she would do well as an actress.
In her words; "Lasun Ray Eyiwunmi was the first person who believed in me and I remain grateful to him."
She got the nickname, Omo Butty, from a movie of the same title. The movie was produced by her and she acted the lead role. It was a hit with fans and they loved her performance in the film.
She revealed some of her earliest challenges include sleeping on location for days without good food and other things. Sometimes, they go as far as Akwa Ibom State to shoot, and you know one is not used to their food there.
The first movie she acted in was Oro Oka, but the movie that shot her to limelight was Tolani Osinrin. She'd also appeared in several movies such as Star Boy, Temi Yemi, among others.
SHE SPEAKS MORE ABOUT HER CAREER AND PROGRESS BELOW;
On Being A Producer
I have produced eight movies so far including Ife si were, Folashade, Ore, Omo Butty, Aturota, among others. I used to produce one movie per year but I have not done so in the past three years, because of the problem of piracy. It is killing Nollywood and I don’t want to do a sub-standard job. The state of the economy is also not helping matters, considering the fact that we spend a lot of money in shooting movies. Because of that, producers have to cut cost, and I am not ready to do that.

Lessons learnt
While I was with Ray Eyiwunmi Organisation, I learnt that the show must always go on no matter what happens. As an actor, you must be focused and disciplined. Before getting into the industry, I was temperamental but I have since learnt how to be patient and take whatever comes my way. Back then, we were also taught that you must be able to undress anywhere and change into costumes because you can be called to perform anywhere and anytime. You also need to have a good body; that way you can play any role and would not feel bad about undressing when there is a need to do so.

Scandals
I prefer to focus on my career, and I don’t like to discuss my personal life. However, Kunle Adegbite is a colleague and friend; that we are often seen together does not mean we are dating. Regarding the man who claimed that he slept with me; he later confessed that we have never met. That incident actually affected the way I relate with fans. Now, I am very careful about accepting gifts from male fans. Some people will offer you gifts as fans, and they will go behind your back to say something else. And you know after a fan has given you a gift, it will be difficult to snub the person.

Romance
As regards marriage, keep your fingers crossed as anything can happen at any time. My ideal man must be handsome, God-fearing and caring.

Fashion Fashion
is about looking good and being comfortable at the same time. I don’t
wear what I am not comfortable in. Depending on my mood, I can do
without make-up and other things. I love wristwatches and I spend quite a
lot on them. I don’t leave home without my small Bible and phone.
