Retired Boxing Champion, Mayweather To Fight BBNaija TIN Tall Tony In Charity Match In Lagos

Retired boxing champion, Floyd Mayweather is set to take on former Big Brother Naija housemate, Triple T, in a charity fight June 13 in Lagos.

This comes in the wake of Mayweather’s scheduled visit to Nigeria as part of his roadshow since hanging his gloves in September 2015.

Confirming the charity fight, the Chairman, Zzini Media, , Donatus Okonkwo, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that Floyd and Triple T would lock horns at the Civic Centre, Lagos.

“The boxing match between Floyd and Triple T is a charity-focused event that will bring under one roof entertainers and sports people,” Okonkwo said.

“Having Floyd Mayweather in Nigeria is a privilege and we are going to do everything possible to ensure that his presence impacts the lives of the people particularly the less privileged.

“Hosting such an event that connects our youths with global icons will boost their morale that will in turn help them channel their strength in the right direction.”

He may not have won the Big Brother Naija reality show, but a high-spirited Triple T said he has no plans of losing to the former Welterweight king.

“Nobody gets beaten in his home; so, I am going to make history by defeating the champion with a few punches.”

The African leg of Mayweather’s hospitality and mentoring tour billed to kick off from June 12 to June 14, will see him make stops at the Federal Capital Territory, Lagos, Akwa Ibom and Anambra States before heading over to Accra, Ghana.

Mayweather’s visit comes bare weeks after former heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield arrived in Lagos for a charity match with APC leader Bola Tinubu as part of the Jubilee celebration of the state.
